The Merging of Law and Business

Who’s to say the world of business and law must be kept separate? Law plays a crucial role in the business world from regulating taxes and revenue, setting minimum wages, protecting unique merchandise and so much more. There are many career options in which these two industries merge together.



There are many types of law that are intertwined with the world of business. Corporate law is involved with ensuring compliance of corporations with standard regulations. They may also serve as liaisons between corporations when mergers occur. Securities law is concerned with the transferring of stocks, bonds and other finances. Intellectual property law is for those interested in delving into patenting, trademarks and copywriting. There are also lawyers that specialize in the taxes aspect of business. They are tasked with advising clients about compliances, decision making and other aspects of taxes.

Other jobs aside from lawyers include contract managers which draft and oversee the process of business contracts. Auditors also work in both industries in the sense that they ensure a business’s finances comply with government regulations. Becoming a corporate paralegal is another pathway that fits into both industries. They are tasked with the administrative duties of a lawyer and assist them in research and drafting documents. Becoming a paralegal requires less education, thus there is possibility to enter the workforce sooner.


The opportunities in both the field of law and business are vast and growing rapidly with new technology emerging. With an interest in both industries, these career paths might be of some consideration. There will always be a need for law in the business world thus opening many doors to a career that incorporates the best of both worlds.
